La Cuoieria was born 20 years ago, from an idea of Gianni Raineri and Pina Romeo.
Producing up-to-date design articles through working and finishing techniques typical of the old Sicilian saddlers, we have been carrying out an accurate research in the old workshops which led to rediscover the ancient hand-sewed stiches called "passi" and other disappearing manufacture techniques.
The twenty year´s experience has made such working procedures the base of our production together with the use of the Tuscan leather called "vacchetta".
The vacchetta´s tanning is made following ancient procedures, using natural essences by body and bark of different trees(mimosa, chestnut, myrobalan, etc.).
At present our firm work both on the national market, where it appears in several qualified selling points, and on many other markets inside and outside the European Community.
Our product come s fron the joining of "Made in Italy" creative design, the constant research of materials, the knowledge and the respect of our traditional working processes.
This catalogue has come out both to synthesize our daily commitment and to be a working tool for our clients hoping to keep growing together.
OUR LEATHERS HISTORICAL MENTIONS
I talking about "my skins" ...
... tanned with trunk and ring, chestnut and mimosa extracts ...
... impregnated in wooden barrels with animal fats ...
... hand on the ceiling and dried naturally ...
... polished with amber stone ...
... Ancient skins that can be recognized ...
... by their typical wrinkles and little imperfections ...
... by the naturalness that onli the leather can show ...
... by the possible slightly fat surface cleanable with a simple cloth ...
... by the possible differences of tonality fron one skin to the other ...
... by the possibility to revitalise them even after years of use with a cloth and bees wax ...
... by the unmistakable and reassuring leather smell ...
... I am talking about "my skins", tanned according to the Tuscan tradition that dated back to the beginning of ´800.
